Default CO2 - Killing Mother Gaia

With green!

Since 1997, NASA has been monitoring plant production on the surface of the earth, And compared to 1997, plant growth has increased by 6.2%. Globally. Scientists blame, of course, the deadly toxin CO2 for this...and the only logical course of action available to us, destroy plants! Kill them all! For Gaia.

In praise of CO2

In other news:

Solar Irradiance, 1611 - 2001. Anyone see a trend here? Anyone? Me neither. :|

And just because I like rubbing it in:

Dude. It's Carbon Belch day! I'm doing my part, are you?

My carbon belch:

1. Three house A/C's on, doors and windows open.
2. Idling both cars for no good reason. (Bonus: One of them is an SUV)
3. Boys are mowing the lawn. It does'nt need it.
4. I'm washing a hand towel.
5. After that, I plan on drying the towel.
6. And maybe I'll do a few more 'loads' of laundry.
7. I found a dirty spoon, and my dishwasher wants in on the action.
8. All three meals today will feature lots of beef, and pork.
9. All incandescent lights are on!
10. I'm zoned to burn trash.....so, I'm burning trash.
11. As a token gesture of my respect for the enviro movement, I'm composting 8.5 gallons of used motor oil.

Default How was Solar Irradiance

Measured in 1611?

“This sunspot is like the first robin of spring,” said solar physicist Douglas Biesecker of NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center. “In this case, it’s an early omen of solar storms that will gradually increase over the next few years.”
Why did I hear yesterday that we are having a period of unprecidented Sun-spot INactivity?

I'm a little confused about the NOAA quote. That spot he's referring to is pretty much not even visible, and worse, it's a solar cycle 23 sunspot. We've been seeing those, rarely, for the last 18 months now. To date, there has been a single cycle 24 spot.

Here it is:

Err...the spot in this image is the cycle 23 spot NOAA is apparently ecstatic about. Cycle 24 spots will appear nearer the poles.

Good suggestions! One is going to leave the AC blasting and all of the Incandescent Light Bulbs on while one is at work today.

And the TVs on! Sadly, one doesn't have high energy usage flat screen versions - the old Sony Trinitrons will have to suffice.

It's really a shame one has fixed the ice-maker on the fridge. One figure that would have been good for a 10% increase in one's CO2 generation.
