Default Chantix

ok... so i've decided to quit smoking... and this time i will be using Chantix...

this is day 3

so far the medicine makes me feel really jittery - kinda creepy feeling - loss of concentration...

u take 1 pill a day for the first 3 days... and then you take 2 pills a day

so day 2 and 3, it pretty much knocked me out for the duration... i was in bed for almost 36 hours... and just couldn't wake up...

had a crazy ass dream, where me and someone else were dropped off on an island and were being hunted by people, robotic panthers(extra large) and could swim...

and people with blow darts...

and i'm still smoking...

at first it made me feel like throwing up when i smoked but it's not exactly doing that to me at the moment... but i have slowed way down on the smoking...

Unfair Park - Chantix, Psychotic?

hmm...

"But the Pfizer drug's FAQ section doesn't mention more serious psychological side effects, and there are many, including "psychotic disorder" and "suicidal ideation.""

I've heard bad stuff about Chantrix, too. Also should not use it if you're taking any kind of antidepressants. It's also expensive as hell. I've started "rationing" cigarettes - I buy one pack that has to last me two days before I buy another pack. A lot of times I will go for long periods between smokes ... but sometimes I go on a bender ... the one pack every other day rule still applies though. I find I get by just fine with that regimen.

Did'nt mom use it to? She's still smoking! I also heard it was being recalled. When it first came out people were ranting and raving about it. Me, i don't trust those sorts of things. I would rather just quit naturally.

No recall...........................YET

Chantix (Varenicline)

Audience: Healthcare professionals, consumers

[Posted 11/20/2007]

FDA informed healthcare professionals of reports of suicidal thoughts and aggressive and erratic behavior in patient who have taken Chantix, a smoking cessation product. There are also reports of patients experiencing drowsiness that affected their ability to drive or operate machinery. FDA is currently reviewing these cases, along with other recent reports. A preliminary assessment reveals that many of the cases reflect new-onset of depressed mood, suicidal ideation, and changes in emotion and behavior within days to weeks of initiating Chantix treatment. The role of Chantix in these cases is not clear because smoking cessation, with or without treatment, is associated with nicotine withdrawal symptoms and has also been associated with the exacerbation of underlying psychiatric illness. However, not all patients described in the cases had preexisting psychiatric illness and not all had discontinued smoking.

Healthcare professionals should monitor patients taking Chantix for behavior and mood changes. Patients taking this product should report behavior or mood changes to their doctor and use caution when driving or operating machinery until they know how quitting smoking with Chantix may affect them.

When I worked at a pharmacy, alot of people were taking Chantix and I saw some great results. One man I remember inparticular, he smoked for 40 yrs. Not anymore!!!

Just like with any meds, keep a close eye on the side effects. It may or may not be for you.

I am, however, VERY proud of you for attempting to quit this bad habit. My hubby and I quit 6 yrs ago by taking Wellbutrin.

Good luck sweetie!!!!!
