I have it too, because I HATE and LOATHE commercials. In fact, the little that I do watch TV, the commercials are ALWAYS muted. Not many people have satellite radio though. I think it's because they have to pay for it. I'd rather pay a little and have no commercials.

Cost of hardware is very high.....the satellites can run 200 million dollars per copy, forcing a high monthly subscription rate. Since most people only listen to radio in their cars, the market is just not that large. Monthly expenses can be very high too...figure a minimum of 100k per year, per engineer, and you have....say ten of them. Plus ground system expenses, controllers, utilities, regulatory expenses, taxes, and since you financed the cost of the satellites, monthly interest payments.

My son has had it for the last two years. I didn't see the need for me to have one since I rarely watch TV anyway.

I do not have Satellite Radio...Though I'd love to get Sirius for one station - Outlaw Country - because of Mojo Nixon.

I saw that. His box is more expensive though. His does that. It's cheaper to keep my basic box and just mute the commercials for me, since I only watch maybe one or two programs a week.
