Dunno if you're looking for gore, psychological scares, or what...so here's a list in no particular order and by no particular ***egory
American Psycho Evil Dead II Bloodsucking Freaks The Autobiography of Fat Mike Seven Jacob's Ladder Altered States Dawn of the Dead (though I think the cheesy original is the best, the f/x are silly more than scary) The Serpent and the Rainbow Angel Heart A Clockwork Orange I suck at these kinds of lists, and since I'm not really a big movie watcher any more, most of these are doubtless on the old side.
