Default The $4,284 monthly health insurance premium

Jesse Paul, 59, an Indianapolis lawyer, paid $25.50 a month for his individual, $100- deductible Prudential major medical policy when he took it out in 1980. Premiums rose steadily for years but at a pace that Paul deemed "rational in terms of medical costs." In 2003 the premium shot up from about $1,200 to about $1,900 a month at renewal.

When Paul complained to the state insurance department, he learned that the policy had been closed to new entrants for years, that he was one of only 400 to 600 customers left in the state, and that the premium increase was permissible under Indiana law. Paul reached his breaking point when he got his latest renewal notice in August; the monthly premium was now $4,284. He quickly found out he was uninsurable on the private market because he took medi***ions for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and allergies. He is now insured by the Indiana high- risk pool for a premium of $650 a month.

........... and............. Arthritis and hay fever excluded

Maggie Frazier, 59, of Cumming, Ga., is facing just such a problem. She has rheumatoid arthritis, but her symptoms are in remission as long as she takes a drug called Enbrel, which costs $1,731 a month. Her current $1,120-a-month plan is being dissolved because of dwindling participation. She says that she cannot secure new coverage except with an exclusion for the rheumatoid arthritis and any illness associated with it, but she also can’t afford the $2,200 monthly bill for replacement insurance plus the Enbrel. “Do I put myself in the poorhouse,” Frazier says, “or do I drop my insurance, pay for Enbrel myself, and hope nothing else happens to me for the next six years until I can go on Medicare? You see where my rock is. I’m at the hard place.”

Fucking health insurance in this country SUCKS!

Not only are these for-profit companies charging 10x more for premiums than what a typical person uses in benefits per year, but because they are for-profit they almost reflexively reject or improperly process nearly all of our families claims. I hate these people.

Did I say how much I hate the insurance people?

...oh, and did I mention how much I hate these scum sucking pigs?

There are still people who say that nothing is wrong with health care in this country? Such illogical people they should be voted off the Island.

Yes, several on this board. LOL. Wait until they hit the wall with their health or experience these premium boosts. They'll think differently...

Hmmm...perhaps some do. I know one is from Canada. I can't remember the others. They'll come here eventually, to tell me I'm wrong...once again.

Yet you are more than willing to turn the financial responsibilities over to the govt, no questions asked? You do realize that a finite pool of money to fund 'health care' comes hand in hand with rationed health care, don't you? There are people in the single payer paradise known as the UK, pulling their own teeth with pliars....you want that here?

It's only rarely that people have dental insurance in the U.S. Medicaid, Medicare, and most insurance plans don't cover dental. We already have people doing that here.

I thought it was because they liked pain. Perhaps that means we need to get a better plan.

You said that wrong. ALL insurance in this country is fucked up. Insurance is the biggest racket in the world.
