Typical mindless liberalism at work. You seem to be of the typical liberal opinion that only government and coersive re-distribution of wealth programs can help the poor and that the belief of some that government is not the best approach to helping the poor means that those people are not concerned about the poor.
I don't need to be coerced into helping the poor Mike. Maybe liberals do but I don't. I give freely to charity and at my church which does many things for the poor.

Who is truly the better person Mike, the one who gives freely of his own accord or the one who is coerced to give and/or who doesn't give and demands that others do?

im not a knee jerk liberal anyway-i dont like welfare at all-im more for out and out socialism-private enterprise can get too greedy and doesnt always do the ethical thing-there need to be laws.
i defend the common man-who doesnt care who bought the pricey wardrobe or who said there were 57 states because its his ass on the line-its his ass that's paying these bills-its his ass that got ripped off by the gentlemen bankers that you contend are so much more honorable than government employees..he might not watch the returns gbu5t taht doesnt mean he doesnt get to choose-they chose Bush and Bush had a lot of problems-he wasnt awful-im not sure the dems would have done any better-but its time we got a little more direct action than trickle down can afford us-i get like a 30 cent pay raise every year. does that draw you a picture?

How about the gov't NOT taking from the people and NOT interfering with market economy by EITHER wealth redistribution programs OR 'Trickle-down' (aka Voo-Doo) economics ?

Why the fuck are there only two theories about how the economy works, and both involve the gov't spending money on things ... either on the rich or on the poor ? How about the gov't spending as little as possible. Remember, every dollar that the gov't spends is a dollar that they have to TAX away from somebody. Dollars that are borrowed against future taxes and spent today are simply more expensive because they cost interest as well.

so you want to downsize the economy to satisfy some perverse religious ideal? all those people out of work so you can get a few more bucks on your paycheck and so your boss can make a lot more money? dont you understand that thinking got the GOP the presidency time after time?

and how do you feel about all those that dont help out of tehir free will? youre basically saying, sure, go ahead, do nothing while i help my butt off. its just naive to think people are magically going to solve poverty all by themselves, they never have, and never will. but if you let a gouv. structurally deal with it and explain what youre doing to the public, all those people will think 'fine whatever' too. difference is, something gets done.

but what kind of society will you have if a gouv. spends nothing? a complete mess, thats for sure. i think its more like you dont want them to spend money on the things you dont agree with. but youre living in a democracy, so theres allways needs of groups that dont directly concern you, groups that wont get any help or support, if a gouv. doesnt give it.
