Default Conservatism's Death Rattle

It seems Mike Duncan wants to know how Republicans Fucked Up??

I though "conservatism" was perfect?

Could Limpbaughs be wrong?

Quote:
Republican National Committee Chairman Mike Duncan said it would be wrong to view the election results as "the death rattle of American conservatism," pointing to a roster of GOP rising stars that includes Palin, Jindal, Cantor and Sen. John Thune of South Dakota.

Republicans, Duncan said, "are going to take a deep breath and listen to the American people." The party is creating a new online forum that will allow people to explain "how we let them down" and "what we can do to restore confidence in our party," he said.
OK this is how Republicans failed ME:

I voted for Bush in 2000. Republicans controlled congress for 4 years. Immigration reform never happened. WTF? So, I figure OK, maybe Bush needs another 4 years, voted for him again. Even with a majority in Congress for half his SECOND TERM, THERE WAS NO IMMIGRATION REFORM.

McCain was indemic if the problem. In all his fucking years as a US Senator, I never understood: WTF HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY???

How did thee let me down ... let me count the ways. That goes for both parties.

In some respect we ourselves are to blame because we keep electing the same bastards to office time after time, regardless of how crooked they are. Look at Sen. Ted Stevens - shit, the Alaskans voted him right back into office immediately after he was convicted on 7 counts of ethics/fraud charges; look at Murtha the Mouth - Pennsylvanians voted him right back into office after he called them rednecks, etc.; Robert Byrd could definitely go - he's been in office since Adam bedded Eve - the slopes of West VA are not slick because of snow - they're slick because of all the fatback and pig grease that Byrd has funneled West VA's way.

But if there's a Republican site being set up to hear from Americans about what went wrong - perhaps they will start planning NOW for the next election.

The data is pretty clear. Conservatives lost the under 30 vote and the 31-44vote.
Out with the old men, in with a fresh young crop of people who can communi***e via the channels people in those age groups communi***e in.
Expand the internet avenues. OWN it.

1) McCain was a lousy candidate. (Yes, of course I supported him and have no regrets doing so, but he was not my first, 2nd, or even 3rd, or 4th choice). He was the lesser of 2 evils and he had it right on most of the big issues. Taxes, war, judges.

2) Congress sucked. After Newt left, they abandoned their principles that gave them control. They deserved to lose control in 06. They are re-tooling but still lack a strong leader willing to be a leader.

3) Bush. While being a victim of circumstances he had no control over, he failed in several areas.

a) He allowed his enemies to define him. When being acused amd blamed for things throughout his Presidency that he had little or no control of, he or his administration NEVER fought back.

b) He, as well as the Republican Controlled Congress, abandoned fiscal disipline. No further explanation required.

c) I believe he was poorly served by his advisors, most definetly in his 2nd term. His 2nd term was a complete disaster with the exception of 2 very excellent SCOTUS choices.

4) For God's sake. You'd think that Republicans would've learned how to deal with a hostile, liberal leaning, mainstream media. They still don't. They need to learn how to deal with them.

May be a little premature to declare conservatism's "death rattle", right after it was declared to be a "permanent majority" (LOL...that's still funny!). But we can always hope.

Conservatism failed because after it's initial emotional appeal it has nothing to offer anyone but the very very richest. Conservative ideology is fatally flawed because...
1) Deregulation is folly
2) Borrow and spend turns out to be a worse economic policy than tax and spend
3) Callous and immoral social viewpoints strike people as mean-spirited
4) Conservatives are always pinched-faced and fuming with rage--who wants to have dinner with these people who are constantly whining about "left-wing media" that doesn't exist or "activist judges" that are concocted by froth-speckled screamers like Limbaugh and O'Reilly
5) Name one that isn't a geriatric old man

Goodbye, conservatism, at least for awhile. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!

No one can "make it on their own"--that is a myth. To quote the Blues Brothers: "Everybody needs somebody." Republicans want the elderly and orphans and the disabled to pay their own way so they can put a couple more gallons in the Hummer. Real "moral values."

Republicans have been stealing taxpayer money for decades to give welfare to the rich and to mega-corporations. Speaking of lazy, when a corporation can do business without whining that it needs millions/billions in tax writeoffs let me know.

I bothered, and I'm dissatisfied with a lot about it. I also think that sacrificing the most vulnerable populations is an immoral answer to the question of "Big Government." Let's cut out corporate welfare and handouts to the rich FIRST.
