Once a pot is open to the public, it is often filled with beans to stretch it out allowing as many of the hoard of contest attendees to taste it as possible: This is the method of The Chugwater Chilie Contest in, Chugwater, WY (40 miles north of Cheyenne).

In the Rocky Mountains there is "Green Chilie." (what I'm cooking in the profile pic) in which pork is the meat, and no tomato is used.
The fact that there exists a "Chugwater WY" is bad enough....but you even know where it is.....in direction, and distance from Cheyenne.

P.S. Agree L-Carr, and Sam on the beans/chili thing.

Since this thread has been open I've had a hankering for some good down home Chile.

Soooooo last night I took the whole clan out for Chile and Corn bread. It was delicious and it sported some beans, tomatoes and was topped with raw onions and grated cheese. On the side came a piping hot slab of corn bread and sweet butter.

Yum Yum... No judging here just "Gooood eatin"

I drive through Chugwater once a week, sometimes twice!!

The town is giving away land. All you gotta do is build on it.

You are a lucky, lucky man, Samson!

What does one -do- in Chugwater...for entertainment, when the chili cook-off is not in town?

In an effort to revitalize its struggling economy and attract new residents, rural Chugwater, Wyo., population 244, is selling empty lots in town for just $100. You have to build a house within a year and then live there for two years. But after that, the property is yours

Actually I thought you could be right, so I obtained the deal in writing and found out 1. You need to be in a certain lower-middle class income level to qualify for the land, and 2. There are strict specifi***ions on the types of homes that you may build, EXCLUDING bunkers.
