Default Puppy Mills

O.k so i don't usually watch Oprah but i did Friday, she had a show about puppy mills. It was sooooo very sad. Did anybody else see it? Does anybody else know much about them? These dogs are treated like livestock. They are stuck in cages their whole life never running in grass. They have litter after litter until they can have no more. The mothers get tumors on their nips from feeding sooo many baby's. When their done they just shoot them. It really is sick. They are considered "livestock" so they can do what they want with them, they are a cash crop.

Here's oprah's link on the show.

Here's a momma dog at the mill

This is a dog getting ready to be put to sleep bc the shelters at the humane society's are full. I watched them do it on the show, that day that shelter killed 14 dogs, i think 40 animals in total that day. Millions are put to sleep each year.

You really should'nt get your pet from a pet store. You should adopt from a shelter! All of my animals have always been a stray or unwanted.

I saw the preview for the Oprah show on Friday during General Hospital..I couldn't bring myself to watch it though...I can't stand to see animals treated that way..the people who run these 'puppy mills'..should be dragged out into the street and shot..

Agreed...a majority of the puppies and kittens that are in pet stores come from these 'mills'...a lot of them are sick and and suffer from malnutrition..they treat them horribly...

Yes it is soo very sad, the lives of these animals. The show was hard for me to watch and i did cry. Now i want to have my own animal rescue, another thing to add to my long list of to-do's. I figure until then i will just do my best to spread the word, in hopes that by doing so maybe one dog could be saved and people will stop supporting them by buying from a pet store.

Unfortunately I have heard of "pet mills," they've been around forever. I've never bought an animal from a pet store and I never will.
