In any event I submit MA wins on not only a per capita basis (total pop only ~ 8 million, plz keep that in mind) but also on an absolute basis.

Any state that would repeatedly elect Barney Frank and Ted Kennedy has my vote.

I think votes for both were the among the first I ever cast, when I turned 18 in 1982. I'm not 100% sure Kennedy was up for re-election that year, but if he was I'd have voted for him. 1982 was Frank's first election, he took over the seat of a priest ordered to step down by the Vatican, of all things. Frank was also not yet publicly flaunting his anal probing ways, though I believe there were rumors.
