Let me introduce myself. I am Granny's new computer. She is SO grateful to at last have me - computer withdrawal can be a bitch. My predecessor got murdered ... by a tech support person at AT&T. My predecessor was attacked by a nasty virus and Granny could not get on the internet at all. When she contacted AT&T for tech support ... the moron was at her service ... for one hour ... and 99 wasted dollars since techs can only spend 1 hour before pulling the plug on customers. Granny was partially through the moron's instructions when the plug was pulled and what the virus didn't destroy, AT&T did. My predecessor got partially erased. Granny was not about to spend another $99 for some other tech to take over what the first tech didn't finish. Granny hates AT&T. There has been one problem after another from the get-go.

So here I am ... and there is not a single soul logged in to greet me. Has Granny done something to offend everyone? She would be terribly sad if that were the case. It's quite unusual to not have any active members signed in.

We are looking forward to getting back in touch with our people again!

This place has been dead since April 1st 2009, Taru! Take the fucking hint and restore vBulletin. What's the point of 'better' software if nobody is willing to use it? 'Better software' should be defined as what's easier for the people using the software, not the people who have to fix it if it's broke. Considering so many sites use vBulletin and don't have any issues, I really don't see the point in this new shit. And yes, I didn't mean shit as in a dismissive noun taking the place of something else. No, this software you are using now is shit.

Another year has passed and Granny will turn 66 on Saturday. I am posting this now since I will not have internet access for a couple days. Taking a trip up close to the Kentucky state line. I’ve just been talking to my ex this morning … we’re both getting older – but we both are in good health and still on speaking terms after all these years. LOL. Yes, we have had our moments. My younger daughter advised me last night that she would be 40 next week and therefore I was also going to be older … and her husband and friends are planning a party for her. I’m told I have to wait another few years before I get to have a party. My kids have always had this “thing” about my birthday, Mother’s Day, and other holidays. They compete with each other to be the first to call me. When my son has been overseas he has sometimes called at midnight to be the first. The next child will say, “Happy birthday, Mom! Am I the first to call?” “No.” “DAMN!!”

Suzy is looking forward to being 40 and vows she will never color her hair – she says she deserves every gray hair her parents, siblings and child have given her. She asked about my 40^th birthday and I told her it was the worst birthday of my entire life. She had not remembered that my Daddy died just a couple minutes after midnight the next morning. I grieved and cried the entire day and stayed in my bedroom. I sensed – I knew he was dying and I couldn’t get to him before that happened. I actually felt his soul leaving my body – I don’t know any other way to describe it. It was just so painful.

I’ve been blessed my whole life with good health generally so during this past year I have taken up efforts to take better care of myself. I quit smoking – though I do have my urges to take a puff once in awhile. Haven’t acted on the urges. I’ve taken walks twice a day every day for a total of 4 miles. I recently went down to one walk a day due to cold weather. This week I have not walked – I’ve somehow wounded myself and my ankle hurts like hell. I’ve lost about 10 pounds. However while I’ve been on my walks I’ve managed to make friends with the cows across the road. When they’re close to the fences I have conversations with them and I actually had one cow get close enough for me to touch her. My children roll their eyes at me – a lot. Our town has a community center that offers options for all kinds of exercise – bowling alley, indoor pool, basketball court, workout room.

I think I have finally come to terms with some people, events and issues from my childhood. That’s a good thing.

I have missed my friends at DA this year. I hope we will all be able to begin posting again. Soon.

I have recently got a weekend job that I enjoy. Pays $80/day – but it gives me a little spending money. It’s been over 3 years since I’ve done anything in the way of making money. I will actually be able to give my children Christmas presents this year which I haven’t been able to do the last 4 years.

I have discovered a stained glass shop and with the extra money I will be able to get back into making stained glass. I’ve started drawing my first pattern in over 4 years. I do have other patterns that I have drawn in the past but not yet used.

I’ve loved the communications technology we have now. My son is now is Iraq and we communicate via Skype. It makes me a little more comfortable, although I do worry. We’ve come a long way since we used to need an operator to make long distance calls.

I grew up in an America that was strong, proud, and respected around the world. I grew up in an America where people respected themselves and respected others. The American flag flew proudly and we as a nation revered that flag. We loved, respected and were proud of our military personnel and appreciated them. I’ve watched my country fall into a abyss of debauchery – no rules, no respect for anyone or anything, angry, poorly educated people. In short it’s FUBAR and I want to have my country back.

I have lived long enough to see America have its first black person living in the White House. I think he will go down in history as the worst White House person we have ever had. Although, I can see a little good from this administration – it’s not like I didn’t already know Washington was riddled with corruption … it’s just that the magnitude of the corruption has become so “In your face” with this administration. Perhaps we the people will finally wake up and try to regain control of our country while we still have one.

just thought I'd let you all know, i finally splurged for the full dev. license... however they're really close to releasing v 4.2 (which we'll get a copy of as well..) ((however I have to upgrade a bunch of other items prior to installing the latest version)

but it does have quick reply as a feature... I know that much

I'll probably just be playing around in the meantime with the source code that I have now.... as I have time... and see where we go from there...

Well my old battery died and now i got a new one that i had to pay nearly $100.00 for........sheesh, it's been a long while since i bought one, and i don't remember them being that high. I think i paid around $60 for the last battery i bought. Well i'm just happy it's fixed and i don't have to worry about me and Oobit getting stranded on the side of the road!

God I hate getting older... I'm only 26, have a very bad hairline and yesterday I noticed white hair on the sides.... Granted I would rather have a full head of white or grey hair than be bald, but shit, can't God just pick one or the other for me!? Do I REALLY have to be both before I am 30!? I think I will start saving money and invest in one of those hair transplant treatments. I've also heard the the University of Tennessee is working on a way to actually take just one cell from a hair, clone it, and implant 3 cells in each hair follicle which would grow hair much more natural looking than normal transplant plugs..... I wonder if I can sign up to be one of the test subjects....

If I am going to be grey damnit, I am not doing to be fucking bald, too! :shakefist:

I still think that the quote and reply buttons should be on the bottom with the contact poster information at the top...

And is there a "Mark Forums As Read" button that I haven't found?

And I preferred how the new posts button worked on the Vbulletin. This one doesn't seem to refresh quick enough or remove posts that I have already looked at from it when I click "Posts since my last visit" again...
